Sponsorships Available for NCOs and Small Businesses to 2008 JETC

Dear Post Presidents:
In support of the SAME Strategic Plan and the objective of developing SAME leadership, the Education & Mentoring Fund has allocated $3,000 each to the Noncomissioned Officer (NCO) Council and the Small Business (SB) Council to assist individuals in attending the 2008 Joint Engineer Training Conference & Expo (JETC) in Minneapolis, Minn., from May 20-23, 2008. The SB Council is also asking for nominations to recognize a Small Business Liaison Officer at the SB Council luncheon meeting in Minneapolis.
I have attached documents [see below] that can be used to nominate individuals for the Small Business sponsorship and award. If you have questions on the Small Business sponsorship or awards, please contact Alvin Brown at alvin.brown@toltest.com.
For NCOs, SAME has six sponsorships of $500 available to reimburse NCOs for expenses to attend 2008 JETC. The sponsorship is intended to help defray out-of-pocket costs for NCOs who are paying their own way or who cannot get approval from their parent organization for all expenses related to the conference. Members who are supported by government, Post, or employer resources must be able to demonstrate that the $500 requested for reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses has not been paid by their parent organization.
Post Presidents or Members of the NCO Council may nominate individual recipients in accordance with the criteria below. Please send nominations by May 9 to Mike Doris at FormerILEM@aol.com. The criteria for nominees are as follows:
- Must be an Active, Guard, Reserve, or retired Senior NCO (E7 or above).
- Must have been an SAME Member for at least one year.
- Must be a Member of an SAME Post and have attended Post meetings.
- Must have participated in one or more SAME Joint Senior NCO Symposia.
- Must provide a statement of interest in attending 2008 JETC to benefit professional development.
- Must be willing to provide SAME HQ and sponsoring Post members with some feedback on JETC.
- Must be nominated by Post President or Member of the NCO Council.
