SAME March Madness Preview
Though much of the country spent this past weekend following their NCAA tournament brackets (and then, quite possibly, tearing them up and throwing them away), SAME will kick off its own version of March Madness later this week at the Fairview Park Marriott in Falls Church, Va., as it hosts four days of events just miles outside our nation’s capital in beautiful, sunny, picturesque Northern Virginia.
The festivities will begin Wednesday, March 26, when SAME will host the Forum on Enhancing Overseas Contracting and Execution of DOD Programs, a private-sector/Department of Defense roundtable discussion of lessons learned and ideas for improving the DOD international business environment.
On the agenda for Thursday, March 27, is the International Business Opportunity Briefings and the Federal Agency FY09 Design and Construction Briefings, which will will run concurrently throughout the day.
This year’s DOD FY09 Program Briefings will be held Friday, March 28, 2008. The briefings are an important preview of the coming fiscal year budget for the uniformed services, federal government and public sector.
And finally, SAME will honor two great Americans at the 2008 SAME Academy of Fellows Golden Eagles Awards Dinner on Saturday, March 29. Maj. Gen. Joseph “Bud” Ahearn, P.E., F.SAME, USAF (Ret.), CH2M HILL, will be recognized for his contributions to the engineering profession, and Richard H. Carmona, M.D., M.P.H., FACS, the 17th Surgeon General of the U.S. (2002-2006), will be honored for his contributions to national security.
While registration for all of these events is now closed, check back with Bricks and Clicks throughout the week for recaps and photos of the goings on, and be sure to stay up to date with future events by getting friendly with the SAME Calendar of Events.
